The main change is that the user will have to save the attachment to disk first in order to execute an attachment. This, of course in order to protect against viruses, requires the user to have virusprotection installed on the machine that is fresh and up to date. This only works on .com, .bat and .exe files. It would be nice if it would work on MS Office documents to... The fix is available for download at (one for each version): http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/downloadDetails/O97attch.htm http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/downloadDetails/O98attch.htm http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/2000/downloadDetails/O2Kattch.htm Download and evaluate for yourselves and don't stop to scan in- and outbound mail. I will try this out for myself and see if it is worth having... Perhaps not the most best solution to the problem but indeed a sign that Microsoft is beginning to take the problem seriously (this of course after they and other big companies like Ericsson were forced to shut down their e-mail system because of the now famous worm...).
